The Met will present a major loan exhibition devoted to the work of one of the greatest artists of our time: Gerhard Richter (German, born Dresden 1932).

The exhibition brings together for the first time 300 works on paper and over 100 glass plates by Eugène Frey (1864–1942) who invented the 'Light Sets' stage design technique – a complex system of lighting projections that enabled multiple variations of colors, lighting and forms to be combined whilst incorporating moving images.

Featuring 40 masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples, one of the most important art collections in Italy, this monumental gathering of paintings is a journey through the artistic achievements of Titian, Raphael, Parmigianino, El Greco, Annibale Carracci, Artemisia Gentileschi, Guido Reni, Jusepe de Ribera and Luca Giordano.
