Hillwood has reopened! Stroll through the gardens, explore the mansion, and enjoy the special exhibition, Natural Beauties: Exquisite Works of Minerals and Gems, during regular operating hours, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We look forward to welcoming you back. 

Please note: Advanced reservations are required and temporary visitor guidelines have been put into effect as a safety precaution.

One Woman, One Vote Virtual Film Festival

In commemoration of the centennial of the 19th Amendment, Hillwood, in partnership with the 2020 One Woman, One Vote Festival and Women Make Movies, invites you to a virtual film festival that centers the voices of women as our nation continues to strive for equality.

Kate Markert, executive director and author, will share the stories behind Hillwood's extraordinary gardens and celebrate the publication of the stunning new book A Garden for All Seasons: Marjorie Merriweather Post's Hillwood.

Join a trained volunteer docent via Zoom to learn about Marjorie Merriweather Post, her rich collections, and how they are experienced today very much as they were in Post’s time. View photos, collection highlights, and archival images, while asking questions in real time.  

 

Floral Design How-To: Beloved Child in Bloom

Follow along with Ami Wilber, floral and event décor designer, in a live presentation to create a romantic floral arrangement inspired by Marguerite Gérard’s idyllic and sentimental style in the painting The Beloved Child (L’Enfant Chéri).

Dr. Stanton Thomas, curator of exhibitions and collections at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, will explore the rise and fall of French artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s popularity in the United States, including the fickle critics and the faithful amateurs.

 

Horticulture How-To: The Fall Herb Harvest and What to Do with Your Bounty

Follow along with Jessica Bonilla, head of horticulture, for a tour of Hillwood's herb garden and a live presentation of how to prepare and preserve your herb garden for a flavorful fall and winter.
