Opening «Meret Oppenheim. My Exhibition» at the Museum of Modern Art, New York

On 30 October 2022, the major retrospective Meret Oppenheim. My Exhibition, which was on display at the Kunstmuseum Bern from 22 October 2021 until 13 February 2022, will open at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. New York is the second US venue following the Menil Collection in Houston and the third and final one of this first transatlantic retrospective devoted to the œuvre of the Swiss artist.

Featuring key works from five decades, the exhibition includes around 180 works, more than a third of which come from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Bern – a unique opportunity to make the high-quality Swiss holdings accessible to an international audience.

If this were not sufficient reason to bring out our collections and take another intense look at them after the major retrospective exhibition in 2006, today the question is - what status can her art claim against the background of recent artistic output from Switzerland?
