SHOZO MICHIKAWA

Erskine, Hall & Coe are pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by distinguished Japanese ceramist, Shozo Michikawa.

This exhibition is unique as all of the works are inspired by the Japanese village of Sasama, where Michikawa runs its bi-annual international ceramic festival.

Michikawa founded 'The Sasama International Ceramic Festival' in 2011, and last year it received more than 1,500 visitors, many from across the globe. Many of the works in this exhibition were fired in an Anagama kiln during a three-day firing at the festival.

Our exhibition is accompanied by photography of Sasama by Yoshinori Seguchi. These beautiful images can be seen on our 'Installation' page here

This is Michikawa's fifth solo exhibition with our gallery and comprises 28 artworks.
