Step behind the lens of LIFE magazine's most notable photojournalist.
With his pioneering candid style, Alfred Eisenstaedt photographed the most important people and moments of the twentieth century. His famous information portraits, most of which were taken for LIFE between 1936 and its final publication in 1972, featured world leaders, politicians, philanthropists, scientists, artists, actors, writers, and more. When he photographed Marjorie Merriweather Post for the November 5, 1965 issue, he cemented her place among the most notable people in America.
Mid-Century Master features nearly fifty Eisenstaedt photographs and ephemera from his career, focusing on his timeless images of life in the mid-twentieth century and the era's most iconic figures, from Marjorie Post to Albert Einstein to Marilyn Monroe.
