Lora Verhovsky’s work was donated to the Museum of the Jewish History in Russia

In 2009 the 16th International Festival of Arts “Art-November” and the State Institute for Study of Arts, Moscow hosted a show “Homage to Diaghilev” by the Israeli artist Lora Verhovsky.

It featured original big-size leather intarsias made from sketches by the prominent artists – collaborators of the great impresario: Léon Bakst (sketch of a dress for “Jewish Dance” in the “Cleopatra” ballet), Natalia Goncharova (sketch of a costume for John the Apostle in the “Liturgy” ballet), Konstantin Somov (“Masquerade”), and Pablo Picasso (sketch of a costume for a Chinese Sleight-of-Hand-Performer for the “Parade” ballet). Lora Verhovsky's marvelous pictures, with their astounding splendor and ornamentation, are a tribute to, and a token of admiration for, the genius of Sergei Diaghilev.

On October 21 2013 Lora Verhovsky’s work the “Jewish Dance” was donated to the Museum of the Jewish History in Russia (www.mievr.ru) by the Foundation GRANY and the Moscow ASTI Gallery according to the request of the artist.

“Revival” by Lora Verhovsky. The artist’s first solo-exhibition in Moscow

The Israeli artist Lora Verhovsky’s exhibition of largesize artworks made of leather and suede in the Museum of Applied Arts was a success – with numerous articles in the press, and sincere appreciation from Muscovites and visitors to the Russian capital. Thus the exhibition “Revival” enjoyed no less popularity than in Israel, and at least one of the attractions was the technique – the so-called “leather intarsia”.
