#1 2011 (30)

The Paris of Pierre Cardin is linked to a number of landmarks in the French capital, including, first of all, the maestro’s theatre near the Place de la Concorde, the residence of the President of the Republic and the Champs-Elysees, near the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais. In addition to those places, there are also his homes, in a neighbourhood near these architectural ensembles, owned by the couturier, designer, and creator of the fashion empire.

Pierre Cardin kindly agreed to a photo session for the “Tretyakov Gallery” magazine both inside the illustrious and sumptuous restaurant Maxim’s that he owns, and inside the museum that bears his name — with its exhibition of decorative and applied art, and paintings and graphics that he has collected over the decades. The museum is located on an upper floor of the building that houses Maxim’s and, naturally, on the same Rue Royale that leads up to the Madeleine church (L'eglise de la Madeleine). Cardin’s collection comprises masterpieces by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Sarah Bernhardt’s private possessions, superb furniture, faience, bronze, Tiffany’s pieces and other items in the Art Nouveau style.

Pierre Cardin invites the magazine’s readers on a tour of his “places” and locales in Paris.

The material was prepared by Galina De Bouard and Sergei Shmarinov.
